Field Trip to Green Bank, WV
Five summer school cadets traveled to Green Bank, WV, to tour the facility that boasts the largest moveable radio telescope in the world. In addition to seeing the radio telescopes, the cadets examined the principles of electromagnetic radiation in the exhibit hall. This correlated nicely with the summer school physics curriculum, which just finished a unit on electromagnetic radiation. In addition, the group got a behind the scenes tour of the laboratory facilities, the signal processing area, and the control room for the telescopes. Photos courtesy of Carl Muench.
