Baseball participates in Spirit of Life Clinic
The Spirit of Life baseball clinic is a program being run by Gayton Baptist Church in Richmond for at risk inner city boys in the Richmond area. This was the first year of the clinic. The Spirit of Life clinic is geared to not only bringing baseball back into the inner city but also to show the love of Christ. Each kid that comes to the Spirit of life clinic receives instruction no all major aspects of the game and they also receive a glove, a ball, a baseball hat, and a Bible. FUMA’s baseball team was invited to help teach the fundamentals of the game. When FUMA arrived the director of the clinic noted that the clinic had to be canceled due to the weather. The team stayed for about 2 hours and had about 50 kids show up. Even without the clinic it was a great experience for both the FUMA baseball team and the kids that braved the rain.
