Cadets Visit Injured Iraq Vet
FUMA Chaplain, CPT James Benson, took a group of cadets to Walter Reed Hospital to visit FUMA alumnus SSGT. Jonathan Grundy (Class of 1994) who was recently wounded while serving with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq. This was SSGT Grundy's third tour in Iraq. He was shot in the face while leading a combat patrol in the Diyala River valley on December 11, 2007. His father reports that "the very good news is that his sense of humor is still there, and his determination. Apropos of humor, his first words to me after the wound were, 'Just wanted you to know, Dad, I'm not really trying to compete with Grandpa for Purple Hearts--he got four in WWII, but one's enough for me!'"
